Country Foods Celebrates 30 Years!

On Friday, Nicki Stribley (Head of Natural Sales) and Julie Taylor (Area Sales Manager) visited one of our longest-trading natural customers to help them celebrate 30 years of opening their store, which also marks 30 years of trading with us!

The Country Foods in Swansea opened its doors in 1993, so the team visited the owners, Margaret and her son Julian with 30 bags loaded with goodies generously donated by suppliers that wanted to share in the celebration; these goodie bags will be distributed to the loyal customers of the Country Foods to thank them for all their support over the years.

While we were there, Margaret told us about the fascinating history of the Country Foods "In 1993, when we opened, we were in a small 18ft long by 7ft wide shop a couple of doors down, and we would serve loose products out of white scooping bins - I remember placing my first order with Queenswood costing £1,500 for scooping products in one of these bins were oats that I would sell for 30p a kilo!" back in 1993 Queenswood was also a small operation that sold loose natural produce from a single unit in Bridgwater. After Margaret's success and high demand for the natural products they sell grew, in early 2000, they moved a couple of doors down to where they are today.

In 2004 Margaret's son Julian took over the managing store and expanded their product range to include body care, teas, snacking lines, zero waste lines and much more that they ordered from Queenswood as we expanded our range! More recently, Julian's daughter has started working in the shop, which marks three generations of their family working there! But even more impressive is the two colleagues they employ, one who has worked there for over twenty years and the other for ten years!

A huge thank you to Margaret, Julian and the team at Country Foods for letting us join in their celebration and their continued business over the last 30 years, and we hope we can continue our partnership for another 30 years.
